The week between Christmas and New Year's always seems to fly by! Between scattered work schedules, family members on the go, full calendars of festivities, and the start of a new year looming over us, we feel pulled in many different directions. Yoga can help you cultivate a sense of security, mindfulness, and resolve during times like these. That's why we've decided to share this Earth Yoga practice!
This grounding routine is perfect for a soothing morning, transitioning into relaxation mode at night, or anytime you seek a sense of centeredness and safety. This version is only 35 minutes long, so you can fit it more easily into your home routine.
This seated practice includes lots of rewarding hip openers and deep lower body stretches. If you have props like a blanket, strap, and block, make sure to have them handy, as they'll help you explore your range of motion and settle more fully into each pose.
On an energetic level, this practice helps you manifest an enriched sense of groundedness by addressing the Annamaya kosha – the systems of the physical body – in relation to the rhythms of nature. Attending to the root chakra (Muladhara) inspires a dense and rooted foundation, with a sense of connection to the earth.
If talk of chakras and energy centers doesn't resonate with you, no worries! Just take deep breaths and let Amber guide you through this series of relaxing, opening, and harmonizing movements. Either way, you will wrap up this practice feeling stretched, rooted, and safe at the foundation of your being. Namaste!
