- Inaugural Skyterra fitness games tournament, The Sky Fit Games!
Sounds rigorous – is it for me?
Our idea of fitness does not mean punishing your body! We will be delving into every aspect of physical health, but our biggest focus for the week will be consistent movement – i.e. safely keeping your body in motion for maximum health benefits. Consistent movement is the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle, especially as we age.
Consistent movement can be as simple as sitting less. According to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (2017), decreasing overall sitting time is an effective way to reduce cardiovascular disease mortality. Additional research has shown that walking 10,000 steps every day not only reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease but also improves blood pressure, physiological well-being, aids in weight management, and improves body composition and overall health. There are so many reasons to step it up!
